Before your headshot.

Most people are a little nervous about this. That's normal, and it's why this page exists. Here's everything worth knowing before we meet, so you can show up and just be yourself.

01

What to wear

Solid colors that feel like you on a normal workday. Skip busy patterns and big logos.

Bring a second option if you're unsure, and we'll pick together when you get there.

02

Glasses, hair and makeup

Wear your glasses if that's how people know you. I angle the light to keep reflections out.

Get your hair or makeup done only if that's how you normally show up. The goal is you on a good day, not a different person.

03

Bring a piece of your work

A tool, your gear, something that says what you do. It's optional, and it can make the photo feel a lot more like you.

04

Where we'll shoot

Outdoors, in your workspace, or anywhere that shows what you do. I bring the lighting and set up the space so the focus stays on you.

If we're outside and the weather turns, we'll have a backup spot picked ahead of time, or we reschedule with no penalty.

05

How the session goes

If you hate having your picture taken, you're in good company. It's most people.

I talk you through it, we take our time, and the first few frames are just warm-up. Nobody gets rushed.

06

Picking your photo

After the session I send you a set of selects to choose from. If we have time, we can look at them together before you leave.

Your session includes one fully edited portrait. Any extra favorites are $50 each, fully edited.

Retouching is natural. Temporary things like blemishes get cleaned up, but you still look like you.

07

Using your headshot

LinkedIn, your website, press, speaker bios and internal communications. Your licensing covers how you'll actually use it.

08

Teams and conferences

Send me a few of your existing headshots and I'll match the light and crop so new people fit in.

At conferences, I set up a station in a corner or hallway and people rotate through between sessions. Each person picks their favorite from their own selects.

The day before

A short checklist.

  • Pick your outfit, plus a backup.
  • Lint roll your outfit.
  • Clean your glasses if you wear them.
  • Plan to arrive a few minutes early so nothing feels rushed.
  • For teams, send any headshots you want matched.
  • Come as you are. That's the point.

Ready when
you are.

Questions before your session? Text or email, and I'll get back to you.
